Flat As A Pancake Description
After this St. Louis band started getting serious radio play, A&M signed 'em and put out this 1975 debut (which went gold). Killer vocals on the hits Never Been Any Reason and Love Me Tonight plus City of Gold; Lovin' Me Along , and more!

Great Album, with good follow up lps
Flat As A Pancake, catchie title, and great hard driving beat. Head East was a midwest band, that appealled to a wide variety of listerners. They wrote about things they wanted to write about and things that were important to them. While other bands Aerosmith, Kiss, etc., sored to the top Head East continued to be their own bosses. Their 2nd, 3rd, and 4th lps. were great, equals to Flat As A Pancake. if not better. However these are out of print. The members of the band like may groups had personal problems and such which lead to replacement members and eventually the break up of all orginal members, except keyboadist Roger Boyd. Last I knew Roger was a professor at a local St Louis College. The band occasionally tours in the mid-west. They still know how to ROCK hard. Ive seen them in the haydays and also at somefund-raisers in the mid-west. It would be awesome if the rest of the albums were re-released, especially, Get Yourself Up, Gettin Lucky, Live, and the East/West Sign.

I just have one question?
What the hell happened??? This was a phenomenal album back in the 70s followed up by some fair, if not great, material on subsequent releases! Then "poof"! No more Head East??? They must have headed West or something??? Kind of reminded me of Starcastle! Another promising group of the early 70s that just hit the charts big and vanished! Its a mystery to me!

Great Album, Great Band
Hello, Bob. Head East put out EIGHT studio albums, one live album, and five compilation albums. Flat is excellent, powered by Never Been Any Reason, but the next five songs after that one are all very good rocking songs. Flat is, in this writers humble opinion, not even their best album. Their second offering, "Get Yourself Up" is even better. Watch for it to come out on CD and snap it up. You wont be sorry.

Takes me back to my college days!
Ive been looking EVERYWHERE for this CD! Head East was a favorite bar band at U of Illinois during my time there in the mid-70s. Had the volume cranked up & was dancin in the drivers seat as I listened to Never Been Any Reason.
