Eat Well For Less Mushroom And Lentil Pie

Eat Well For Less Mushroom And Lentil Pie are a vegetarian food. The base is a mushroom base with lentils and other veggie fillers that come from the filling. It has a thick, chewy texture that makes it a delicious vegetarian meal. This recipe comes from a vegetarian friend’s mom, who also makes it with lentils and eggs.

Steps to Cook Mushroom And Lentil Pie

First, you need to get some mushrooms. If you can’t find them, mushrooms in a container with air holes are just fine. Cut the mushrooms into pieces about one inch in size and place them in a glass jar. Pour about half a cup of water into the jar and seal the jar tightly. Let the mushrooms sit in the water for about eight hours, then drain them and place them in the refrigerator.

Cook the mushrooms and vegetables until the liquid has evaporated. Use a wire mesh strainer on top of the pot for this process. Drain the mushrooms and veggies and rinse the pot. Place everything back in the pot and heat it up over medium heat until the meat cooks through and bubbles form in the surface of the pot. Remove the pot from the heat and let the meat cool down a bit.

After the meat is cooled down, add the lentils, onions and garlic powder. Cook the mixture until it is almost tender. Add the mushrooms, vegetables, lentils and seasonings and mix well until everything is combined. Turn the pot off and let it cool down to room temperature.

When the mushrooms and veggies are warm, remove the meat from the pot and put it in a Ziploc bag. Then add the mushrooms and veggies in the bag along with enough water to cover the mushrooms. Seal the bag tightly and shake it up to moisten the mushrooms. It will take about an hour for the meat to dry out.

Then, using a spatula, spread the mushrooms evenly over the pie shell. Press the meat and vegetables down into the shell to seal it. After the meat is completely covered, top the mushrooms off with the rest of the cheese and bake at 400 degrees F for about forty-five minutes or until the cheese is fully melted. Serve with fresh fruit juice and crusty rolls or bread.

If you plan to serve a large group at your party or gathering, use a larger pie pan or baking sheet and divide the mushrooms and veggies into individual portions. You can even use a large salad dish as your serving tray. You can serve several different mushrooms at a time. This will make it easier to clean up afterwards. You can also freeze the mushrooms in their skin to be served at another occasion. If you are planning to have guests over, then serve some sliced mushrooms on the side with a salad.
