Former Presidents of the United States is an indispensable source on Presidential history and trivia. This list was prepared by political scientist Samuel Huntington and was published in his famous book “The Presidents of the United States.” This list of the presidents of the United States was prepared after the conclusion of the First World War. At that time, the list of the president was compiled to facilitate better control over the legislative bodies. The process to compile the list was cumbersome and therefore it took a lot of time before the final compilation was done.
The list of the Former Presidents of the United States can be divided into two sections. The first section provides information regarding the first American president, James K. Polk. The other section includes information regarding the presidencies of many of the same presidencies including the two executive orders of George Washington and Thomas Jefferson. Some interesting facts about the presidency are mentioned here such as the fact that James K. Polk was the first U.S president to try the system of colonial administration. He had been appointed by the British government. There is also mention of the fact that Thomas Jefferson was the first U.S president to use the executive order in order to institute a system of direct taxation.
It should be noted that there is no information regarding the qualifications of the president who became the first president of the United States. Some speculation regarding this issue is that if James K Polk did not receive the required number of votes then he should have been excluded from the presidency. There is also speculation as to whether James K Polk could have won the election if he had been excluded from the presidential candidacy. Whichever the case may be, the question is as to why the first president of the United States was not chosen by the members of the meeting in Philadelphia prior to the presidential election.
The Former Presidents of the United States were selected after the election of James K Polk as the first president of the United States. He was elected after a lengthy election campaign in which he ran under the banner ‘The Perfect President’. The term ‘Perfect’ referred to his ability to perform well despite being a man with limited political experience in the federal government. His platform during the election campaign referred to the need for experience in the executive branch and the need to appoint people with executive experience.
Andrew Jackson served as the first president of the United States of America after the Civil War. He was nominated by Washington as the Vice President of the United States and was immediately vested with the powers of the Vice President of the United States. After the war, he served two terms as President of the United States. Two other Presidents of the United States served two terms in the office prior to the Civil War: Andrew Johnson and Martin Vienneau.
A list of presidents of the United States can also include two very influential men, John Adams and Jefferson Davis. John Adams was the third president of the United States after Washington, D.C. was first. He was also a Senator from Massachusetts before becoming the third president of the United States. Jefferson Davis was a General and top-ranking officer in the United States Army. He was installed as the first president of the Confederate States of America following the Civil War.
